There are a LOT of good streaming series out there right now, and TEACUP is about to join the (spooky) party – this new series follows a group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive. Inspired by the New York Times bestselling novel “Stinger,” by Robert McCammon.
I had the extremely good fortune of being able to check a few episodes out early, and I can happily recommend it to you! The first two episodes premiere today (Thursday, October 10th), and are streaming on Peacock. They’ll be followed by two episodes dropped weekly, through Halloween. Each episode is 30 minutes, so it moves fast! And there’s a lot to like about them.

TEACUP introduces us to the Chenoweth family: Maggie (played by the amazing Yvonne Strahovski) and her husband James (Scott Speedman), live in an isolated farmhouse with their two kids: Meryl and Arlo, and James’ mother, Ellen (Kathy Baker). There’s already tension between Maggie and James, when some neighbors arrive in need of help – and that tension spirals into panic when young Arlo goes missing.
After a search of the farmhouse’s surrounding woods – well let’s just say “strange things are afoot at the Chenoweth farm” and leave it at that. No spoilers here!
What I can tell you is that Episode 1: Think About The Bubbles has one HELL of an opening sequence; Episode 2: My Little Lighthouse keeps that trajectory going STRONG; and the bloody special F/X in each episode are fantastic. I haven’t read the source inspiration, so I can’t speak to how accurately it holds to the novel – but I am fully into this whole story; from beginning to end, and also very impressed with how it’s unfolding.
